Emerald Coastkeeper (ECK), the Northwest Florida chapter of the Waterkeeper Alliance, has its headquarters in Pensacola, Florida. ECK’s jurisdiction includes all tributaries including creeks, bays, rivers, bayous and any other water bodies that are a part of the watershed beginning at the Alabama/Florida stateline to the west (Perdido Bay) to Panama City to the east (West Bay). Then to the South the Gulf of Mexico and north to the Alabama State Line.
Emerald Coastkeeper’s mission is to respond to citizen reports of pollution and adverse environmental impacts, followed by reporting permit violations and holding governmental representatives accountable for protecting our watershed. We utilize education and advocacy to increase awareness of water quality issues and use citizen enforcement of the Clean Water Act when necessary. Through the support of our members we fight for our right to swimmable, fishable, drinkable waters.
Our mission includes that we be responsible to our members and community by keeping them constantly informed through educational programs, lectures, outings, presentations, website postings, email alerts and newsletters.
